ECEL 219 Spring 09 #5

Number the Stars by Lois Lowry. This book was exceptional! This book is about a family that is striving to live during the holocaust. The Johansen's are very close to a Jewish family who they are trying to protect from the German soldiers. These families go through many obstacles to live and not be taken away and possibly killed. In the beginning while reading this book, I was scared from what was happening and then towards the end it was extremely sad that I cried. I recommend everyone to read this book it is very good and helpful for students who are interested in teaching Third Grade and Up. There are different ways that this book can be used. Since this book is discussing the holocaust and war, in history class students can learn more about the holocaust and fieldtrips can be taken to museums who teach about the holocaust.
